OPEN TALK: Meeting the Mobile Challenge with WebRTC: Stories from the front lines

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

As we all know, the mobile market is booming and the number of mobile devices in use is set to increase to 12.1 billion by the end of 2018. So what does that mean for WebRTC? Essentially it means that it is now impossible to innovate with WebRTC without considering mobile.

However, as WebRTC originated as a browser-focused foundation, mobile devices and mobile connectivity both present distinct challenges to WebRTC. Despite these challenges, mobile solutions incorporating WebRTC for real-time communications can be and have already been deployed today.

This talk will highlight specific technology and deployment challenges to making WebRTC work in a mobile context, discuss how many of these challenges can be mitigated or resolved, and introduce and demonstrate some real-world mobile implementations of live video using WebRTC from companies including Calgary Scientific, Kubi Robotics and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
